Position: Urban Designer and Planner/Project Manager -
Associate (Watertown, Massachusetts) Duties: Oversee urban design projects in high density urban
districts, mixed-use environments, university campuses, high-tech parks and
other related urban planning projects. Design, manage, and coordinate
projects to distribute and guide work produced by junior staff.
Participate in and lead client interviews and in onsite and offsite meetings
with client management for new business development. Check drawings
and approve work produced by junior staff. Hand-drawn perspectives
as templates to be used for final presentations. Analyze and
draw conclusions from programmatic statistics received from the
client to determine the most successful and strategic design approach.
Plan and schedule project work; coordinate the activities of project
team members; and review completed work prior to report production
and client submission; Perform varied planning, traffic, and
environmental analysis, including zoning, density analysis, site/land
planning, feasibility analysis, and developmental impact assessment.
Analyze and determine special and functional requirements and coordinate
drawing production. Present planning and design ideas and other related
work to clients and other interest groups. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Master’s
degree in Architecture and Urban Design and a minimum of 2 years of
experience leading the planning and urban design strategies for
high-density urban districts. Also must include, expertise designing high density
urban districts, including development of cities, urban districts,
downtown plans, and new communities; architectural design for buildings
in high- density, mixed-use environments, university campuses, and
high-tech parks; using software design tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, and InDesign. Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and/or
Rhino, and Sketchup to model design ideas as well as to create graphics to
convey design intent and community design thinking; analyzing
zoning requirements and land use regulations in China, India, and
other Southeast Asian nations, and collaborating and coordinating
with regulatory agencies in countries outside of the United States;
and creating sustainable design concepts, computer-aided graphics,
