Assistant Director of Harm Reduction PURPOSE: The primary
responsibility of this position is to support the Alliance for
Living’s (AFL) Harm Reduction program through assisting the
Director of Harm Reduction. The position will operate within the
Harm Reduction Model to assist in overseeing all Harm Reduction
Programing, including HIV Prevention and Harm Reduction Center
(HRC). CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, at-will position. Full-time,
benefits eligible. POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Harm Reduction
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: (Examples – not an all-inclusive
listing) · Operates within the Harm Reduction model. · Supervises,
guides, and evaluates Harm Reduction staff. Reports findings and
suggestions regarding staff and their development to the Director.
· Assists the Director in monitoring of and strategic planning for
the program, ensuring the meeting of all grant requirements and
meeting of grant deliverables. · Provides and manages HIV and HCV
testing, Syringe Services, and Harm Reduction education. · Orders,
manages, and tracks DPH Prevention inventory. · Supports operation
and management of the Harm Reduction vending machine. · Submits
reports to the Director. (e.g., surveys, informant interviews,
suggestion box, and program data collection methods). · Assists the
Director with management of subcontractor grant responsibilities
(e.g., monthly meetings with our funder, chart audits, site visits,
MOU’s management, monitoring fiscal and programmatic activities of
subcontractors, ensuring subcontractors receive training and
technical assistance). · Collaborates with the Director of Harm
Reduction in preparing and submitting quarterly program reports to
our funders. · Participates in ongoing data collection and
analysis, including but not limited to client surveys, suggestion
box, and/or focus groups. Provide feedback to the Director. ·
Assists in the identification and evaluation of opportunities to
improve program effectiveness and make recommendations for
modifications to improve program delivery. · Attends all mandatory
meetings and other meetings as assigned. · Contributes to grant
writing, as needed. · Other duties as assigned. Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Extensive knowledge and practice of Harm
Reduction and the ability to connect with the people who we serve.
· Experience in hiring, training, and managing personnel. · Ability
to learn how to read, analyze, and maintain reports per grant
contract guidelines. · Ability to work with minimum supervision and
engage in critical problem-solving methods. Escalate issues and
suggestions for resolution to the Director for consideration. ·
Ability to be outside and mobile to conduct site audits, meetings,
and participate in community events. · Ability to develop trust and
rapport with participants, project staff, and community partners. ·
Demonstrated skill in active listening and conflict management. ·
Understanding and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries. ·
Cross-cultural skills and experience with diverse populations. ·
Strong communication and time management skills, including
multi-tasking in a high-volume environment. · Intermediate computer
proficiency (MS Office) and the efficient use of relevant software
programs. · Desire to engage in continuous learning to expand skill
sets. · Ability to honor confidentiality requirements during both
employment and post-employment periods. · Must have own
transportation, both valid driver’s license and insurance. ·
Bi-lingual ability a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS · Prolonged
periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and phone. ·
Occasional lifting, carrying, and moving inventory weighing up to
20 pounds between floors. · Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling
and/or crouching for maintenance of office space. Reasonable
