(ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.

considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language
Interpreter to support communication needs within educational
settings. This role involves providing interpreting services to
students and staff, ensuring clear and effective communication in
school environments. The position is based in Bangor, ME, with some
travel required to various school locations. Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between hearing and deaf or
hard-of-hearing individuals in classrooms and school events.
Interpret spoken language into sign language, and vice versa,
accurately and impartially. Collaborate closely with teachers,
students, and support staff to enhance educational accessibility.
Attend meetings and workshops as needed to stay current with
interpreting standards and educational practices. Maintain
confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Qualifications
and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and
understanding of Deaf culture. Previous experience interpreting in
educational or similar settings preferred. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills. Ability to adapt to different classroom
environments and student needs. Willingness and ability to travel
to multiple school sites within the designated area. Location:
Bangor, Maine, with travel required to surrounding schools.
