Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support communication in educational settings within York, PA. This role involves working directly with students, teachers, and staff in schools to provide accurate and effective interpretation services, ensuring accessible learning experiences for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken and signed communication between students, educators, and staff during classes and school activities Facilitate clear and accurate communication during meetings, assemblies, and other school events Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to adapt communication strategies to diverse learning needs Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics in interpretation Travel as necessary to support multiple school locations within the designated area Qualifications and Desired Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent interpretation skills Previous experience interpreting in educational settings or similar environments preferred Ability to work independently and manage travel logistics efficiently Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity Relevant certification for sign language interpreting is a plus Location: York, PAthis position requires travel to schools within the region to provide on-site support.
