Whether helping to define microgrids, pushing the boundaries on clean energy or grid modernization, you'll find yourself working with leaders in transmission & distribution, thermal generation, and renewable energy in one of the world's top 10 design firms, broadening your skills and developing your career.Your Key ResponsibilitiesStantec is currently seeking a mid to senior level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with strong interest in being part of a purpose-driven organization that is focused on helping our clients, colleagues, and communities thrive.Successful applicant will work with a multidiscipline group of engineers and designers providing technical services to public and private sector clients. Primary duties include control systems engineering, process control strategy planning, automation designs, construction support services, planning studies with detailed analyses, and designs related to water and wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations. - Experience with equipment selections, equipment and communication network layouts, and process control design coordination with other engineering disciplines is required. Candidate should be at ease with core aspects of PLC, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming, and upgrade. Depending on job size and complexity, duties may be performed as project I&C lead or as a project team member under the guidance of a principal level I&C engineer.Successful applicant will be expected to be proficient in:

Marketing Support Activities includingAssisting marketing team with project pursuit strategiesPresentation material developmentPresentation participationServing as I&C discipline subject matter expertDesign Activities including:Developing preliminary scope definitions, budgets and staffing plansField review and evaluation of existing equipment, control systems (hardware and software) and control panels.Preparing studies, conceptual reports, and technical memorandumsConducting I&C engineering and analyses related to various water, wastewater, and industrial waste treatment facilities.Supporting multi-disciplinary teams with engineering design projects and studiesDeveloping construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules). Drawings for construction include:Database driven Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)Detailed network communication architecture diagramsControl panel detailsCCTV and Access Control System drawingsPoint-to-Point Wiring DiagramsInstrument installation details.Development of technical specifications and detailed control strategiesReview and evaluation of electrical schematic diagrams and plans; review and evaluation of mechanical specifications with controls content; review and evaluation of process flow diagrams and design criteria; and coordination of I&C deliverables with the process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.Procurement support activities:Preparation and/or review of instrument datasheetsReview of contractor and equipment supplier submittals.Reviewing Contractor's shop drawings and submittals related to electrical and I&C work; investigating and developing contract-based responses or engineered solutions to Contractor's Requests for InformationReview of construction cost estimatesProviding engineering services during construction which may include any one or more of the following:Equipment supplier shop inspections and factory testsActive construction site inspectionsSupport of equipment and control system commissioning, start-up, and performance testingAssist with system trouble-shootingWorking in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
