for you! Product Technician I - Flowers Onsite, Albion ME Position
Summary: The Product Technician I supports the evaluation of
variety candidates for the Johnny's Selected Seeds assortment.
Working closely with Product Managers, this role executes facility
trials within established designs, maintains sample/inventory
records, prepares basic reports and summaries, and serves as
primary technical contact for assigned crops internally. This
position focuses on the flower program. In the off season this
position rotates to the Contact Center two days a week. Entry level
starts at $20.60 /hour and varies with experience.
Responsibilities: Receive trial goals from Product Managers
Assemble sample request list with direct oversight from Maintain
accurate records of samples requested vs. received; keep the seed
sample inventory tidy per SOP. Conduct annual product development
variety performance trials at the JSS facility within established
trial design, overseeing all aspects of crop care and maintenance
(seeding, thinning, transplanting, harvesting). Effectively
communicate trial needs to the Farm team during planning and
execution. Record and maintain accurate trial data based on
established evaluation criteria. Prepare basic internal and
external trial reports and basic trial summaries. Support PMs
during delivery of Field Forum and Sales Week presentations; attend
Crop Walks as able. Attend Breeding Team meetings to ensure
advanced products are included in the trial efforts each year.
Visit production grow-outs as requested; support evaluation with
PM/Breeding guidance. Work with PMs to maintain alternate product
reference. Provide PMs with information necessary to complete NPIS
entries; review catalog layouts as requested. Maintain working
knowledge of Johnny's assortment for assigned crops. Support the
sales and customer service departments by providing product
training and technical support for customer inquiries. Develop with
a working knowledge of key suppliers; attend supplier visits as
requested. Maintain records to support reporting of departmental
metrics. Education: High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS
preferred, or 3 years relevant experience. Qualifications & Skills:
1-2 years applied commercial growing experience preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to
prioritize, self-manage, and collaborate in a team environment.
Ability and willingness to present; public speaking Punctuality and
readiness to work; valid driver's license; ability to travel
domestically and internationally as required. Physical
Requirements: Capable of physically working outdoors, often in
