Job Description:
Our client is looking for a hardworking, motivated, experienced
Tool Maker to join their team. The Tool Maker is responsible for
designing, building, maintaining, and repairing tooling required
for machining, fabrication, and assembly operations. This role is
essential to ensuring that production meets stringent defense and
aerospace quality standards. The ideal candidate is highly skilled
in precision machining, problem solving, and working with complex
mechanical systems. Location: South Windham, CT Hours: 1st or 2nd
Shift Pay Range: $40 - $45/hr. What’s the Job? Manufacture, modify,
and repair precision tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, and gauges used
in the production of machined components. Interpret complex
engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to create high
accuracy tools that meet tight tolerances. Operate conventional
and/or CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment to fabricate
tooling components. Perform tool assembly, alignment, tuning, and
verification to ensure proper function in production settings.
Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on existing
tooling to minimize downtime. Collaborate with manufacturing
engineers, machinists, and quality teams to optimize tooling
designs for manufacturability and performance. Measure, inspect,
and validate tooling using precision metrology equipment
(micrometres, CMMs, height gauges, indicators, etc.). Maintain
detailed records of tool designs, revisions, materials, and
maintenance activities. Support continuous improvement initiatives
targeting quality, safety, and productivity improvements. What’s
Needed? Minimum Education – High School diploma or GED 5 years of
experience as a Tool Maker, Tool & Die Maker, or Precision
Machinist. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering
drawings and GD&T. Strong knowledge of machining processes and
equipment. Hands-on experience with CNC and/or manual machining
operations. Expertise in precision measurement and inspection
tools. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
Ability to work with tight tolerances and high reliability product
