Transformation Management Team at Unum supports transformation
efforts by ensuring that - as an investment portfolio - our
partners are empowered and enabled to maximize value generation. As
part of the collective mission, this role will help to ensure that
our most impactful initiatives are designed, executed, and
monitored to enable transparency and accelerate decision making and
issue resolution.
This role provides a unique opportunity to help shape Unum's path
to transformation by working closely with leadership and management
stakeholders to prioritize and align business opportunities with
strategic goals of the company and then deliver on those
opportunities via targeted projects. These initiatives and
solutions support business strategic goals, are centered around the
customer experience, and produce market share, top line growth and
bottom-line results - giving the role a broad spectrum e.g., "front
row seat" to learn about all the vital parts that shape our digital
transformation, impact our lines of business and ultimately make
UNUM most competitive.

- BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
- 5+ years experience in business consulting or a transformation
role, to include working with customers.
- Quantitative skills to support metrics, analysis, and reporting
at the discretion of the VP, TMO Leader.
- Demonstrated experience in driving business transformation
(including mastery of a broad range of service
model/strategy/transformational/process improvement tools and
approaches - e.g. Design Thinking, Six Sigma).
- This role requires analytical skills, understanding of business
areas and functions, balanced with ability to clearly and concisely
communicate with management across all levels of the
organization.
- Highly self-motivated - will go the extra mile to get the job
done right and "wow" our clients.
- Communication skills for interaction with initiative roadmap
owners, project managers, and other stakeholders involved in
supporting the initiative's execution.
- Experience managing large, broad cross functional
projects.
- Proactively identify and advocate for areas of opportunity and
implement solutions.
- Ability to assess risk and operational findings - turning data
into actions.
- Synthesis of detailed analysis and research into strategic
insights and practical recommendations, including strategic,
financial, and operational analysis
- Ability to influence mid-level to senior management through
personal interactions as well as the creation and delivery of
presentations.
- Ability to craft simple and effective business communications
(PowerPoint) to build the case change and rationale for
recommendations in order to gain management support throughout
project.
- Comfortable asking tough questions - challenging mid-level to
senior management throughout the transformation process.
- Strong consulting and advisory skills; ability to think
conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems, and make
thoughtful recommendations.
- Ability to implement and drive change, including demonstrated
experience and knowledge of change management principles.
- Some travel required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholder to have a seat at the table
on transformational projects within business areas and across the
enterprise to design and implement business strategic and
operational service model and process changes.
- Partners in a Transformational approach including developing
initiative roadmaps, training for team members, ensuring clear
measurable milestones and ensure initiatives are set up to succeed.
Deliver measurable and transformative business and operational
strategy solution in support of TMO Leader.
- As a key leader in the TMO, attend initiative-level meetings to
proactively identify interdependencies or issues and escalate to
the VP, TMO Leader for action when needed
- Partner with project managers supporting the initiative to
support program management methodologies, reporting, etc.
- Research, analyze, and synthesize significant amounts of
information to quantify business opportunities and issues to
develop strategy and recommendations.
- Identify, advise and deliver on solutions to problems,
requiring a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and
innovation.
- Key player in attending all weekly initiative-level meetings on
behalf of the TMO and compiling weekly operational metrics from
initiative teams.
- Influences program-level decisions on project plans,
resourcing, etc, based on knowledge of projects.
- Leads self-development and the development of peers through
sharing best practices and mistakes.
- Leads the monitoring and assessing implications of current and
emerging market and technology trends relevant to the Company.
- Learns new TMO tools, processes and approaches and implements
consistently across initiatives.
- Responsible for championing a cultural change towards a
customer centric organization, focused on end to end customer
experience, operational excellence, process management, and
efficiency, including training managers and employees.
