Our content design team uses design methods and research to understand user behavior and how it should inform our work. Then, we write usable, useful, and responsible product copy to build better outcomes for the people who use Upwork. We---re collaborative problem-solvers who design with words. As the Director of Content Design, you---ll lead and mentor this team of content designers and continue to refine the content design practice. You---ll partner with product designers, UX researchers, engineers, and product managers to deeply understand our customers and design solutions to meet their needs. And you---ll work closely with brand and product marketing managers to bring consistency to our product language style and voice. Your Responsibilities Lead and develop our team of content designers. Encourage a thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design that meets every user where they are. Advocate for content design and help other teams understand its value. Continue to build the content design practice so content designers are involved from initial concepts through to launch on high-priority and strategic projects. Facilitate and optimize workflow, making sure that everyone is aligned to our highest business and customer priorities. Build a proven understanding of the state of our product language and identify areas of opportunity for refining our content principles and resources. What It Takes To Catch Our Eye 3 years of applied experience as a leader in content design and/or UX content strategy on a UX or product design team. Advanced skills both as a practitioner and as a mentor in techniques such as content mapping and modeling, information architecture, UX writing, and storytelling. Ability to collaborate with other leaders across practice areas to craft effective solutions. Ability to be flexible and proactive within a fast-paced environment. Excellent people leadership skills, including the ability to attract and retain outstanding talent. How To Really Stand Out A portfolio that demonstrates your expertise for solving complex problems.
