Senior Director, Cybersecurity - Threat and Vulnerability Management

Position Summary
The Senior Director of Information Security is accountable for technical and engineering cyber security functions within a highly technically-complex IT network and across MaineHealth's multi-site, multi-hospital environment in two states. Develops, implements, aligns and supervises the technical cyber security mission and strategy, benchmarking, best practices, and planning. Builds, grows, and supervises a team of expert cyber security engineers to conduct and optimize the performance of cyber threat hunting, vulnerability management, security monitoring, and security crisis management and response mission functions. Oversees the technical security protection of confidential information, reduces cyber risks, and counters cyber threats to meet Federal regulations including HIPAA. Liaises with Federal, State and law enforcement authorities on technical cyber security matters. Builds consensus and teams together with IT leadership, MaineHealth member organization leaders, and supporting contracted cyber security service providers to develop, implement, benchmark and improve cyber security risk-reducing strategies and implement best-practice technical workflow processes that protect the information of our patients, care team members, and business and clinical processes. Exercises budgetary and financial management responsibility and negotiates contracts for highly-specialized cyber security technical software, tools, and services. This leadership role's impact is to lead and orchestrate the continuous successful cyber defense of MaineHealth against hugely expensive, lengthy and reputation-damaging workflow disruptions to patient care and business processes by ransomware and other hacking or data-destroying attacks. Serves as the Acting CISO in the CISO's absence.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Bachelor's Degree in the field of computer science, information technology, business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
License/Certification: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent GIAC required.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of proven leadership and management experience required, eight (8) years preferred. Cyber security leadership experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; Experience leading in a complex multi-hospital health system is strongly preferred. Minimum 10 years of overall professional experience in the field of IT and/or cyber security.
Expert project management and implementation oversight experience of cyber security technical software, tools and contracted services.
Expert consensus-building and team-building skills.
Expert cyber incident response crisis management skills.
Expert ability to successfully create, implement, improve and manage technical cyber security processes and procedures to reduce risk and counter cyber threats.
Outstanding business acumen and budget stewardship.
Outstanding change management and performance optimization skills.
Demonstrated success in leading and managing technical cyber security across an organization with multiple, geographically-dispersed sites.
