Job Description:

Position Description Portland, Maine: We invite an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the busy Cardiothoracic Surgery division with Maine's largest hospital. An ideal candidate will have experience in post-cardiac surgical care and interests in cardiology and/or surgery. We offer an inpatient role where you will provide care for cardiac patients primarily in an adult Intermediate Care / Step-Down Unit. Become part of a successful, comprehensive Cardiac Surgery program that manages 1300+ cases annually. You will join a big team (6 Cardiac Surgeons & 18 NP/PAs) and provide inpatient care for post-op cardiac surgery patients after they leave the ICU setting. APPs here work closely with the Surgeons and the Cardiovascular Critical Care Intensivists, getting a high level of autonomy as they provide the highest quality of care. This surgical program is at the forefront of minimally invasive valve platforms (such as TAVR and advanced heart failure treatments, including ECMO and VADs). Enjoy a great scope of practice in an exciting environment within this award-winning 600+ bed academic medical center (affiliated with Tufts School of Medicine in Boston). You will earn full privileges to perform bedside procedures independently, including thoracentesis, chest tube placement, wound vac placement and management, and arterial lines. You will handle daily rounding, admissions & discharges, and consults, working directly with the Nurse Navigator and Case Managers to ensure a seamless patient experience from admission to discharge. You will be impressed with the talented and caring staff, comprehensive facilities, and fully integrated EMR system. You will work a schedule of four 10-hour shifts/week (7am-5pm), with weekends rotated so that you work just one/month. There is no call. We are offering: * Paid relocation to beautiful coastal Maine * Secure hospital employment with the state's largest medical center * Interesting inpatient role with leading edge surgical team * 4 day/week schedule for excellent work/life balance! * Highly competitive salary * Paid liability insurance * Health, dental, vision, and even pet insurance * Paid leave with a budget for your CME * Additional paid time off for vacations, etc. * Participation in a retirement plan * A great opportunity to grow your career!
