Job Description:

We currently have an opening for a Rapid Response Nurse--for the Southern Maine/ Northern Mass area. The Rapid Response nurse is a resource to all areas of the nursing department and must obtain and maintain licensure, accreditation, credentialing and competency in all aspects of nursing including but not limited to vascular access, infusion, chemotherapy, precepting and education directed. S/he is highly skilled and must make every effort to complete ultrasound guided PICC/Midline education within 90 days of hire, seek opportunity to gain experience, skill and competence in this area within 6-12 months and maintain competency during employment. Job Responsibilities: Work with a highly skilled team of clinicians to deliver care to patients in a variety of environments including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, private residences or alternative residences including but not limited to shelters, halfway homes and locked facilities. Accurately performs initial and ongoing patient assessments of home infusion therapy patients. Provides comprehensive patient assessment, patient care, education, documentation and proper reporting relating to the prescribed therapy. Performs all nursing related tasks as needed. Demonstrates competency in all therapy types provided by NELC. Effectively communicates and collaborates, verbally and in writing, in a timely manner; with all departments as required or necessary. Comprehensively documents all patient assessments, communication with patients, caregivers and other members of the healthcare team in patient's electronic medical record at the time of care delivery. Inserts, maintains, troubleshoots and discontinues (as appropriate) all types of infusion access according to NELC policies and procedures. Demonstrates and maintains competency in the use and troubleshooting of related vascular access devices, infusion equipment and supplies. Participates in case conferences, team meetings, company events and educational classes/conferences Participation in On Call rotation for Nursing department. Expert in the placement and management of all vascular access devices within the scope of practice and needs of the organization Delivery of care to patients in a rapid fashion, in all covered areas of the nursing department including all cities and towns in all states within the nursing department territory Assures that professional practice complies with state and federal regulations including, but not limited to, Nurse Practice Act and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations and NELC's Corporate Compliance Program. Establishes and maintains good working relationships; shows respect and concern for the feelings of others; interfaces effectively with all levels of the organization; focuses on situations rather that personalities in relating to others; works cooperatively within a group; accepts constructive feedback. Displays good judgment; takes the initiative rather than waiting to be told; make practical suggestions; learns from past experiences and uses those insights to handle new situations effectively; defines problems logically and develops appropriate solutions; uses creative approaches. -- Requirements: Certification in Vascular access (VABC) or infusion therapy (CRNI) within two (2) years of hire Minimum of two (2) years acute care, vascular access, home infusion experience or equivalent required. Active Registered nurse licensure in all states serviced by the assigned regional team Current BLS Certification required. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required. Willingness to learn or working knowledge of the OSHA, CDC, state and federal regulations Willingness to learn or working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations Willingness to learn or working knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation process and standards Excellent patient assessment skills required. Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and members of the healthcare team verbally and in writing. Preferred abilities: Previous home health nursing, Home infusion and vascular access experience preferred. Two (2) years ultrasound guided PICC /Midline experience preferred. Working / practical knowledge of home infusion therapy administration / equipment use preferred. -- EOE
