SUMMARY Position Summary
Maine Medical Center is currently seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for
the Northern New England Poison Center located in Portland. This
team-focused, intellectually challenging position requires a \\"can
do\\" problem-solving attitude. This position will have on-the-job
training with the expectation of passing the American Association
Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) Certification Exam within two
testing periods. We are accepting new graduates for this position,
and will assist with certification. MaineHealth - Maine Medical

This is a 40 hour role with rotating shifts including day, evening,
night (some flexibility with shift lengths) weekends and
This position requires strong problem-solving skills, and due to
being based in a call center environment, requires sitting and
typing for extended periods of time. Manages poison exposures and
answers poison and drug information questions through the Poison
Center hotline. Supervises Poison Information Provider (PIP) staff
managing hotline calls after nationally certified in poison
information. Assists with drug- and poison-related education of
healthcare professionals, the lay public and PIPs. Contributes
significantly to assigned projects, which may include grants,
contracts, outreach, data organizing and reporting, quality
assurance and research. Under the general direction of the Poison
Center Director, or their designee, the Clinical Pharmacist
formulates recommendations based on current literature and
established standards of practice, directly supervises supportive
personnel, serves as a resource for drug information.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
* Education: Graduate of an ACCP accredited school/college of
pharmacy is required.
* License/Certifications: Eligible or currently licensed in the
State of Maine.
* Experience: Previous experience with or ability to learn to use
the Micromedex and Toxicall Database is preferred. Experience in
the monitoring and consultation on drug therapy in patients of all
age groups is preferred.
* Ability to formulate patient management plans for poisoned
patients using computer and text resources, and to locate and
interpret primary medical literature
* Ability to use Microsoft Word.
* Excellent oral communication skills, both speaking and listening,
and comfort conveying medical information via telephone.
* Ability to communicate with people of varied cultural and
