Job Description:
Maine Medical Partners Orthopedics is seeking a full-time Board
Certified/Board Eligible Fellowship-trained Pediatric Orthopedic
Surgeon, interested in building a pediatric orthopedic program as
part of a full-service orthopedic division.
Maine Medical Partners Orthopedics is a multi-disciplinary team of
surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and
administrative staff committed to providing high quality medical
and surgical care to patients. The Orthopedics division is
currently comprised of a surgical team of six surgeons within the
Joint Replacement Division, three Trauma and Fracture Care surgeons
who are members of Maine Medical Centers Level One Trauma Program,
two Sports Medicine surgeons, 7 non-operative Sports Medicine
physicians, one Hand/Upper Extremity surgeon and one Foot and Ankle
surgeon.
Maine Medical Center has a dedicated pediatric hospital, The
Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital, which cares for over 1,500
inpatient discharges per year. Within Maine Health there are
multiple pediatric outpatient clinics that serve patients with
musculoskeletal issues (including dedicated spasticity/cerebral
palsy clinics), as well as an existing pediatric spinal deformity
service that includes both Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. Given this
existing infrastructure, we believe there is great potential to
grow an active medical and surgical pediatric orthopedic service at
Maine Medical Center. The ideal candidate would have interest and
training in scoliosis surgery in addition to general pediatric
orthopedics.
Maine Medical Partners, a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center, is
Maine's largest multi-specialty medical group serving the
healthcare needs of patients locally and throughout northern New
England. This high quality team of 600+ physicians and 350+
advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital
based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric
care delivered throughout a network of 54 locations across the
State and acts as a regional referral network.
Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the states
leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a
full complement of residencies and fellowships and an integral part
of Tufts University Medical School. The candidate would have an
academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine, and
the position involves teaching and mentoring residents and medical
students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of
Medicine Medical School Program.
