Maine Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Epidemiologist to join
their team. The nurse selected will review EHR records to match
patient signs and symptoms against CDC criteria. Health Care
related infections will be documented in Theradoc according to
protocol.
This is a full time, Monday-Friday, day-shift position. The
flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation covering nights
and weekends is required. We are seeking candidates who have prior
experience as an acute care RN. A current Maine RN license, and a
bachelor's degree in Nursing or health care/related field are
required. Testing for CIC at one year, two years is also required.
Prior experiences using EPIC systems and/or Theradoc is
preferred.

Position Summary
The Nurse Epidemiologist at Maine Medical Center demonstrates
expertise in clinical leadership within a specialty by applying
expert knowledge and skill to the analysis of adverse infectious
outcomes and epidemiology of infectious disease. The Nurse
Epidemiologist collaborates with the Director of Epidemiology,
Hospital Epidemiologist, healthcare providers, and MMC management
team to develop and deliver quality health care to all patient
populations within and beyond MMC.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: A Bachelor's degree in health care or related field.
Consideration may be given to a candidate with extensive experience
in Epidemiology and Infection Prevention.
License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered
Nurse in the State of Maine. Certification in Infection Control
attained as soon as qualifications are met.
Experience: See "Education"
Process and problem solving skills and systems knowledge necessary
for participation in clinical initiatives and project
management.
Knowledge of computer systems not limited to Windows based
programs, Power Point, Excel, and Access.
Knowledge of current patient-care techniques, methods, practices,
and procedures.
Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards pertaining to
infection control. Knowledge of descriptive and analytical
epidemiology. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate infection
control practices, policies and procedures.
Supports the organizational performance improvement initiatives by
providing quality assessments, using scientific epidemiological
principles, as a means of tracking and identifying clinical
problems and providing information to clinicians to help determine
opportunities for improvement of patient care.
