This busy Family Medicine practice is looking for a motivated MA to
join their team and work across both Portland and Peaks Island
clinics. This is a great opportunity to work with patients aging
from birth to old age, including obstetric patients, and to make a
difference for an island community. Our Portland practice operates
a Residency Program, so an interest in continuing education and

Position Summary
Portland Family Medicine is a busy practice in the heart of
Portland's East End, as well as a satellite on Peaks Island. MAs
here will gain experience working with patients form birth to old
age, including obstetric patients and Sports Medicine patients. Our
MAs work at a high level of independence, and have the option to
train in phlebotomy and work in our lab as well as other MA
responsibilities. Our practice operates a Residency Program, so an
interest in continuing education and growth is paramount. Our team

The Medical Assistant (MA) is assigned duties and responsibilities
related to patient care in a team-based ambulatory practice
environment. The MA functions under the license of the provider
when performing clinical and other patient care tasks. The MA must
demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of
patient care within their scope of practice and according to
organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: As of July 1, 2016, applicants must have graduated from
an accredited Medical Assistant program with completion of 160
hours clinical experience acquired through an externship.
Acceptable equivalent criteria minimum of 2 years' clinical
experience in a multi-physician medical practice. Completes 10 CEUs
of clinical education per calendar year.
License/Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant or Registered
Medical Assistant credentialing preferred. Current BLS
required.
Experience: See "Education." Minimum of 1 year within the same
practice with minimum 20 hours or more per week.
Ability to excel in a team-based care environment.
Maintain personal and professional records that include evaluation
and validation of clinical competence/proficiency, continuing
education, and any certification or verification of special skill
sets.
Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking,
prioritizing and medical care coordination.
Ability to maintain a professional manner.
Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of the electronic medical
record.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
Employee must obtain a Successfully Achieves(SA) or above on
performance evaluation.
Employee must not have any form of corrective action.
Committee membership at an organizational or practice level with
attendance record of at least 50% of the meetings.
Involved in two special projects of initiatives as defined in the
clinical ladder criteria document.
Maintains the role as an effective back up preceptor.
Submission of an annual SMART goal.
