Summary For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on
bonuses for Clinical Nursing Assistants (CNA):
- 0-1 years of experience eligible for $2,500 (full
time)
- 1+ years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
- Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or
Part time CNA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires,
per diem hires are ineligible.
- Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former
MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months
separation from employment.
- R6 is a dynamic 24-bed neurosurgical / trauma unit with an
embedded 9-bed neuro-focused Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Bean 2
is a 12-bed Total Joint Center. This position offers the R6/B2 CNA
an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a
supportive environment as an integral member of a collaborative
team of highly trained staff.
- The R6 patient population includes adults and older adolescents
with neurological and orthopedic conditions including closed head
injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizure disorders, multi-traumas,
and conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention. In R6 IMC,
closer observation, collaboration, and teamwork amongst the RNs and
CNAs is required to support care needs of these higher acuity
patients. The Bean 2 patient population consists of adults who have
undergone joint replacement surgeries, and this unit serves as the
Joint Center for our nationally recognized and Joint Commission
accredited joint replacement program. This fast-paced unit
consistently receives exceptional patient satisfaction
scores.
- R6/IMC/B2 offers a challenging yet rewarding environment where
teamwork, excellent communication, a positive attitude, and a
proactive approach to provision of care is expected. As a teaching
unit with frequent student rotations, this collaborative learning
environment welcomes new CNAs and other learners excited to be part
of this supportive team. The compassionate Nurses, Patient Care
Technicians, and CNAs on R6/IMC/B2 work closely to support each
other in meeting patients' needs and ensuring the highest standards
of care are met.
- Position Summary
- Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurses and
according to defined policies and procedures, performs various
service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and
assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily
living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment.
Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific
patient populations is required.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Participates in continuing education relative to
role as defined.
- License/Certifications: Must be certified as a Nursing
Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine
Registry, having completed a six-week or equivalent
course.
- Experience: N/A
- Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow
oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and
maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors,
and Maine Medical Center employees.
- Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational
structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing, and Maine Medical
Center.
