Surgical Tech Location: Bangor, ME Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,106 per week Shift Information: 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/16/2026 About the Position Job Title: Scrub Technologist Profession: Nursing Specialty: Scrub Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift with call rotation Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Not specified Certifications: Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Must-Have: Trade or Technical School (Certificate or Diploma) At least one year previous experience preferred Description: Per the standards of the Association of Surgical Technologists, surgical technologists work under the direct supervision of a surgeon. They facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. The surgical technologist is responsible for ensuring the operating room environment is safe. They must ensure that equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The surgical technologist handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. They have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. Duties of the technologist include, but are not limited to: checking supplies and equipment needed for a procedure. They scrub, gown, and glove themselves, the surgeon, and assistants. They perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operating room and before the incision is closed. The technologist assists in draping the sterile field. They pass instruments to the surgeon during the procedure. They maintain the highest standard of sterile technique. The technologist assists with terminal cleaning of the room. They clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and assist in prepping the surgical suite for the next patient. The surgical technologist is also responsible for working with new employees and students to help train them in the surgical technologist role. The technologist is not permitted to function in the circulating nurse role, first assistant role, or administer medications. They are also restricted from completing patient records.
