PCHC’s Primary Care Pharmacy Team is seeking a Medical Support Assistant (MSA) to play an essential role in helping patients connect to pharmacy services that support their health and well-being. In this role, you’ll manage pharmacy schedules, proactively reach out to patients, and collaborate with teams across PCHC to ensure care is delivered efficiently and thoughtfully. You’ll bring a solid understanding of medical office operations, strong communication skills, and a patient-centered approach. Find out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyC3DFYq0zg Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm (This role is physically based with our Pharmacy Administration team at Penobscot Pediatrics, 6 Telcom Drive, Bangor. While the position supports PCHC’s Pharmacy services, there is not a public pharmacy located at this site.) Key Responsibilities Support Patient Access & Experience: Collaborate with teams across PCHC to support timely responses to patient needs, identify access challenges, and contribute to a positive patient experience. Manage Scheduling & Appointments: Answer patient inquiries, schedule appointments, provide pre-visit information, and actively manage pharmacy schedules to maximize access and reduce gaps in care. Oversee Appointment Reminder Tools: Serve as a super user for appointment reminder systems, managing confirmations, patient preferences, and related functions as they evolve. Conduct Proactive Patient Outreach: Reach out to patients to confirm appointments, follow up on cancellations or no-shows, schedule referrals and follow-up visits, and document outreach accurately in the EMR. Promote Pharmacy Services: Educate patients about primary care pharmacy services and assess interest in engaging with a pharmacist as part of their care team. Maintain Accurate Registration & Coverage Information: Verify insurance eligibility, ensure patient registration accuracy in the EMR, and communicate discrepancies to billing as needed. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1 years, with 3 years of experience preferred, in medical office or pharmacy setting required. MA, pharmacy technician or equivalent experience preferred. If pharmacy technician must become certified pharmacy technician within one year of hire.
