Manager, Software Engineering & Network AutomationCapital One is
actively seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, software engineer for
network automation with expertise working on both data
analytics/enrichment and API development. - The primary
responsibility is to lead and manage the developers on the
automation team, providing feedback and insight into code standards
and practices while identifying areas of automation within the
environment. - Experience should include working in an agile
methodology to develop cloud native serverless solutions to enrich
data sets and enhance APIs. -Key Team deliverables include:API
development and enhancements to add functionality to programmatic
access to network services. An example API is CNAME API which
allows application owners to auto provision new and modified DNS
CNAME records while still enforcing least permissive access and
ensuring stability. Another example is TRACE which dynamically
connects new VPCs to our transit gateway within AWS.The team also
performs network asset data enrichment including resource ownership
tagging and identification of high risk or low usage security
policies. This data enrichment is tightly coupled with our CMDB as
we provide requirements automation for inventory accuracy. - It is
also a part of our company initiative to migrate to end to end
architecture as code deployments of security policy. -Primary
languages include Python and Java. - All applications run in
containers or Lambda in AWS. - Data storage occurs in Postgres, S3,
Splunk, and Snowflake. - Machine learning enhanced event
correlation is supported across the data generated within the
enterprise connectivity space for predictive analytics. - Working
on next generation workflow automation for code deployments and
configuration standardization. - -Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of developers in an agile environment to enrich
data and both establish and enhance API access
- Directly manage individual contributors, provide performance
feedback and career coaching, participate in talent and succession
planning
- Provide feedback and gap analysis on application technology
roadmaps and provide forward-looking strategy recommendations
- Work with developers to ensure recommendations are implemented
in a method that ensures long term adoption
- Participate in budget planning sessions
- Identify and act as product owner to establish comprehensive
automated solutions within the scope of network automation -
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and other teams to
identify problem areas and implement programmatic solutions. -
- Track emerging technologies and help drive adoption based on
business or technical drivers.
- Successfully meet deliverables for multiple projects, lead
and/or participate on multiple project teams following Agile
methodologies.
- Contribute to defining time tables and project plansBasic
Qualifications: -
- Bachelor's degree -
- At least 8 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 2 years of people management experiencePreferred
Qualifications: -
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science or computer
engineering
- 5+ years of experience leading software development initiatives

- 2+ years of experience managing teams of developers -
- Experience with public cloud (AWS, Azure, Google)
implementations and connectivity.
- Experience with building frameworks leveraging SDN and NFV
- Cisco or Juniper certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE
