Maine (This is a remote position; however, you must live in Maine or be in the process of relocating)



Maine Connectivity Authority is seeking a Database Systems Administrator. Established in 2021, Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) is a quasi-governmental agency focusing on projects, places, and people, advancing digital equity for all Mainers.



MCA's mapping platform and data collection will help the state make data-driven decisions, prioritize funding for rural, unserved areas, and maximize the impact of federal funds flowing to the state. The Connectivity Headquarters for Analysis Research and Transparency (CHART) facilitates the aggregation, visualization, and convergence of many data and map layers and is the organization's central repository for data, analysis, and decision-making tools to assist MCA and other stakeholders in understanding the available data and competing resource needs facing our state. The data behind CHART will allow MCA to integrate socio-economic, racial, and health disparity datasets to guide infrastructure and digital equity decisions regarding investments, partnerships, and program priorities. Practical applications of this data include future program design, geospatial analysis, and modeling, developing evaluation formulas for competitive programs, and managing post-award compliance and reporting, community planning, and public communication of impact.





Requirements of the Database Systems Administrator:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
Ability to work with all databases in the organization including GIS, Salesforce, Finance, Survey Monkey
Previous experience in Database Development, mainly for ArcGIS Enterprise
Experience working with geodatabases required, preferred experience with Esri products
Previous experience in Database Administration, ArcGIS data systems and Salesforce
Advanced level of experience with productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Slack.
Strong working knowledge of office equipment and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of systems thinking and organizational facilitation for efficient management of programs and projects.
Knowledge of non-profit, governmental, or quasi-governmental agencies.
Understanding of the telecommunications industry.
Strong written skills for completion of concise communications.
Superior organizational and time management skills, information recall and attention to detail.

Responsibilities of the Database Systems Administrator:

As a key member of the organization's team, MCA will rely on the Database Systems Administrator to improve data interoperability, access, integrity, and security through developing customized solutions, thereby driving key decisions and supporting the evolving needs of the organization. This position reports to the Director of Program Operations and Communications and works directly with the Research & Analytics Senior Manager.

Completes, or assists analyst and consultants in, implementing new programming or developments for the system
Automates repetitive workflows by working with the Spatial Analyst
Continues to improve and adapt the operation of the database as needs and requirements change
Support analysis of survey results and identify most efficient means to share data
Identifies and supports opportunities for data and system integrations that drive organizational efficiency
Focus on adherence to a data governance policy including security measures
Grant data permissions and access for users
Ensure continued data integrity through scheduled cleaning and maintenance

Attendance and participation in frequent meetings (internal, external, and blended).
