Maine Medical Center#s Cardiology Service Team is seeking a Research Nurse Coordinator. The RN joining this team will be part of a strategic initiative to help develop a Cardiovascular Research Center. The selected candidate will be responsible for: # understanding the clinical trials protocols identifying patients to participate in the study explaining the protocols and educating #the patient enrolling the patient scheduling follow up appointments for the patient capturing # documenting study data #We are looking for self-starter who enjoys working independently as well as part of a team of Principal Investigators, Research Nurse Coordinators, clinic staff and other MMC departments. A BSN degree is ideal, and 1-2 years# research experience is preferred. The selected candidate will be part of on-going studies, so the ability to build a strong rapport with the patient and their families is required. Cardiology experience is ideal; other clinical expertise will be considered coupled with strong research experience. A strong understanding of good clinical practices (GCPs) and human subject protection (HSP) principles is also helpful. Position Summary The Research Nurse Coordinator position involves many aspects of research coordination.# This includes collaboration with the Principle Investigator, Program Coordinator, Study Center, and relevant MMC Departments.# The primary responsibilities include study coordination and acting as a hospital educator/resource person for studies. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine.# Education: See #License/Certifications# Experience: N/A Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families and other healthcare providers. Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines and departments. Knowledge of current research related policies and procedures as well as appropriate process for initiating revisions. Thorough knowledge of theory, practice, principles, processes and issues of nursing usually acquired through 2-3 years of clinical experience. Analytical ability necessary to keep records, maintain inventory levels and perform data entry. Ability to manage complex projects through all phases of development, implementation, and follow-up.
