the areas of anesthesiology, orthopedics, pain management,
pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular &
interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of
Maine?s hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New
Hampshire. POSITION SUMMARY Acts as a liaison between patients,
provider practices, and the PAT team in the multi-specialty Surgery
Center, by facilitating communication with physicians, mid-level
practitioners, and other clinical staff; while interactively
coordinating surgical schedules, performing designated clinical
functions, and providing general clerical support. ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS Coordinates and schedules surgeries per physician order2.
Works with nurse manager to manage surgical block time3.
Coordinates, assists and gathers all information needed for surgery
and ensures that pre-operative preparation is complete4.
Coordinates and communicates information regarding specialty
equipment for individual cases5. Coordinates and schedules
specialty equipment, specifically, laser and radiology needs.
Notifies O.R. manager of conflicts6. Coordinates and schedules
order for labs7. Communicates, via schedule, information regarding
requests for pain management blocks8. Coordinates and schedules
CRNA staffing for pediatric cases9. Calls patients a day prior to
surgery to confirm instructions for day of surgery10. Forwards
billing information to the finance team11. Works closely with
administrative assistant and nurse manager to calculate statistics
related to O.R. metrics, including utilization PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES ? Communicate effectively with patients, families,
providers, staff and others? Attend meetings, as assigned, and
participate in educational activities to keep skills up to date?
Works on special projects as requested? Demonstrate professionalism
at all times? Displays cooperative behavior and interacts
positively and effectively with others to promote a team
environment? Is proactive in identifying, reporting and
participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient
safetyissues? Performs other duties necessary to maintain the
overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic QUALIFICATIONS ?
High School diploma or equivalent? Knowledge of medical
terminology? Experience in a hospital or medical office setting
with scheduling experience helpful? Strong customer service skills,
with pleasant/professional telephone voice? Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills? Excellent organizational skills and
attention to detail? Ability to work independently and as a member
of a team? Proficient computer skills? Ability to maintain
confidentiality PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT ? Daily use of
computer operating instruments; stationary PC, Laptop PC, keyboard
and mouse? Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other general
record-keeping materials? Operation of various office equipment:
fax machine, telephone & voice mail system, stationary/laptop
computer, emailsystem, scanner, and copier? Lifting up to 20 pounds
occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently? Walks frequently?
May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time?
Occasional reaching, twisting, bending? Travel between ASC sites
