The U.S. Secret Service is seeking retired (CSRS/FERS) individuals to support our integrated mission and immediately impart their knowledge and experience to the current workforce. The Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. If re-employed under this special hiring authority granted to the Secret Service, annuitants are able to earn their full salary and their full annuity without penalty.

Dual Compensation Waiver for Special Agent and Uniformed Division Officer:

  • Work Full-Time
  • Receive Overtime
  • Earn Full Annuity and Full Salary
  • Earn LEAP (SA only)
  • Earn Annual Leave and Sick Leave
  • Term Appointment up to 4 years
  • Individuals appointed before June 30, 2021 may continue their employment until their not-to-exceed date is reached.

The following divisions are approved to reemploy Special Agents and UD Officers:

  • INV Field Office/Resident Offices-INV approves placement;
  • Counter Surveillance Division-SII approves placement (SA and UD);
  • Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division-SII approves placement;
  • Technical Security Division-TEC approves placement and the annuitant must possess TSD skills.
  • UD Officers are approved for CSD and the UND Branches as designated by the Chief's Office



During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:

  • Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
  • Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
  • Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Positions may be eligible to receive Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO) added to base pay at a rate between 10-25%, based on management approval.

This announcement is being advertised for multiple locations; therefore, the locality adjustment will be added to the basic salary based on selected locations.

Conditions of Employment If selected, you may be required to:

  • Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Tier 5 clearance. For more information visit OPM Mythbuster Page.
  • Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
  • Submit to a polygraph examination prior to your appointment.
  • Undergo occasional travel.
  • Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside.
  • Complete a pre-employment medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized Government physician and be determined physically fit to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties. You will be required to undergo regular physical examinations and to maintain a level of physical fitness in accordance with the standards and policies of this agency.
  • Sign a mobility agreement stating your willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas.
  • Successfully complete an 8 week Mixed Basic training course.


You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

General Medical Requirements:

As determined by the Office of Personnel Management, the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.

Since the duties of this position are exacting and involve the responsibility for the safety of others under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any condition that would hinder full, efficient performance of the duties of this position or that would cause the individual to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others is disqualifying.

There are also specific medical requirements for this position, and any chronic disease or condition affecting the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, digestive, nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, nervous, genitourinary, and other systems that would impair full performance of the duties of the position may also be disqualifying.
