Job Description:
Sign-on bonus of $3,000! $1,500 paid with the first payroll. The
remaining balance of $1,500 will be paid out at 6 months of
employment. Company Overview Spectrum Healthcare Partners is
Maine's largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed
professional organization and is comprised of over 200 physicians
practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, orthopedics, pain
management, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular
& interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of
Maine's hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New
Hampshire. POSITION SUMMARY Serves as liaison between the
physicians, clinical support staff, and patients in both an
administrative and clinical capacity focusing on the delivery of
quality patient care. Works closely with providers, assisting with
all day-to-day operational and administrative responsibilities.
Assists providers with patient care as needed. Hours: M-F, 9:00 AM
- 4:45 PM. Based on experience and qualifications the average
hourly compensation for this position will range from $19.00 -
$22.00. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Coordinates provider's schedule and
ensures the smooth and efficient flow of patient care + Generates
daily appointment lists, updating all cancellations and add-ons. +
Prepares charts for office visits and reviews for completeness +
Triages incoming calls from internal and external sources providing
excellent customer service + Enters calls into telephone encounter
and forwards to clinical team for review and follow up. + Uploads
faxed documents to patient chart and forwards to clinical team when
appropriate. + Schedules appointments, and obtains prior
authorizations, as required. + Coordinates follow-up appointments.
+ Processes FMLA and other disability forms. + Monitors department
voicemail on designated unassigned phone line where patients leave
messages + Functions as a back up to Clinical Assistant providing
direct patient care to include: Rooming patients; obtaining vital
signs and measurements; medication preparation and administration +
Collaborates with surgical scheduler to coordinate pre-operative
diagnostic tests, medical consults, etc.; gathering information to
ensure pre-operative emergency room patient facilitating questions
regarding wound care, pain management, and follow-up appointments +
Assists provider with the health/physical assessment process as
needed + Documents patient care services timely and accurately in
the patient record. + Cleans exam rooms and instruments, restocking
supplies as needed + Promotes infection control practices; applies
principles of aseptic technique, standard and transmission
precautions + Provides patient counseling and education as directed
by the supervising physician PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES + Assists
with daily processing of office correspondence and appropriate
distribution. + Retrieves required past documents, procedure notes,
operative notes, etc., and scans any documents that need to be
uploaded in patient chart. + Inventories, stores all necessary
medical supplies, drugs and education materials + Works with the
healthcare team providing information and education + Communicates
effectively with patients, families, providers, staff, and others.
+ Keeps abreast of current issues involving patient care or
practice issues by attending and participating in department, team
and practice meetings + Attends meetings, as assigned, and
participates in educational activities to keep skills up to date. +
Works on special projects, as requested. + Demonstrates
professionalism at all times. + Displays cooperative behavior and
interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team
environment. + Performs other duties necessary to maintain the
overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic. + Is proactive in
identifying, reporting and participating in the resolution of any
potential or actual patient safety issues. QUALIFICATIONS + Current
MA, CNA, Athletic Trainer, LPN or other relevant clinical
credential or certification + Active license where required issued
by the State of Maine + Previous experience in a healthcare
environment with knowledge of medical office protocols/procedures +
Previous administrative experience + Excellent customer service
skills, with pleasant/professional telephone voice + Ability to
demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others +
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for
interacting with patients, physicians, leadership and other staff +
Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention
to detail + Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks to meet
changing demands daily + Ability to work independently and excel as
a member of a team + Proficient computer skills with knowledge of
electronic medical records + Ability to maintain confidentiality
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT + Operation of various office
equipment; fax machine, telephone & voice mail system,
stationary/lap top computer, scanner, e-mail system, cell phone,
pager, and copier + Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other
general record keeping materials + Lifting 10-20 lbs., and
occasionally 50 lbs. + May be required to sit or stand for extended
periods of time + May be required to walk frequently + Risk of
exposure to hazardous conditions and blood borne pathogens +
