Position Summary

The Workforce Development Career Navigator is responsible for developing and implementing system workforce development efforts related to career navigation and coaching. Reporting to the Grant Programs Director, this position works closely with internal and external partners to provide guidance and support to those pursuing healthcare education and careers in healthcare. This position plays a critical role in facilitating sustainable programs and pathways to educate tomorrow's healthcare workers.

This is a grant-funded position through December 2024

Career Navigation

  • Provides in person and virtual career navigation services to include: working with care team members and other learners to assess interests, navigate educational and workforce options, and developed individualized career plans
  • Maintains an awareness of and communicates career pathway opportunities
  • Counsels and tracks care team members and other learners into roles and programs Provides case management support and referrals
  • Liaises with relevant departments and populations to raise awareness of navigation services and career pathways
  • Utilizes database systems to document, report and track those career coaching prospects and participants

    Program Development & Management

    • In partnership with the Grant Programs Director, acts as a central resource to identify, organize and grow workforce development related efforts throughout the system
    • Participate in and partner with local and regional workforce development efforts (state, educational institutions, other healthcare partners)
    • Participate in the development of new and innovative models of learning

      Program Implementation & Analytics

      • Identify, evaluate and leverage existing external and internal workforce development efforts
      • Prepare reports and create presentation materials to be used with internal and external audiences
      • Using data and in partnership with the business, identify the critical positions that would benefit from specific workforce development interventions or new program creation
      • Provide or assist in special programing or workshop materials, including scheduling and delivery Identify trends and recommend strategies to fill gaps in critical roles not covered by other programs

        Pipeline Development

        • In partnership with the Grant Programs Director and Center for Workforce Development Director, develop strategies to identify and capitalize on workforce pipelines to include K-12, veterans, foreign born, underemployed, internal talent, and underrepresented groups
        • Identify skill and supports demands and create strong networks with individuals in the communities we serve
        • Participate in initiatives to access our internal talent pool as an opportunity for career progression
        • Participate in outreach and recruitment activities and events for all assigned WD programs

          Administrative Responsibilities

          • In partnership with the Grant Programs Director, develop and update external facing webpage to outline and highlight the WD efforts and programs
          • In partnership with the Grant Programs Director, create and manage marketing and outreach materials and activities
          • Administer program participant database to include participants' progress and success; contribute to collection of feedback, analysis and evaluation of programs

            Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

            • Education: BA/BS degree.
            • License/Certifications: N/A
            • Experience: 3-5 years of related HR or Workforce Development or relevant experience. Experience in program development, community networking and advocacy at the local or state level preferred.
            • Demonstrated collaborative relationships with organizations and community partners.
            • Ability to create and maintain excellent relationships with hiring managers and HR as well as Workforce Development colleagues and community partners
            • Familiarity with healthcare occupations, work environments and hiring practice preferred
            • Ability to deal, tactfully and effectively with and advocate for a diverse group of program participants
            • Strong interpersonal, organizational, negotiation and presentation skills.
            • Proficiency in Microsoft Office specific to Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint required
