Overview
The Public Safety Barracks Clerk for the Vermont State Police provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of the New Haven barracks. This role involves handling sensitive and confidential information, maintaining records, and facilitating communication between Troopers, staff, and the public.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Administrative Support:
  
  • 
    
  • Manage daily office operations, including answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting visitors.
    
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and departmental events.
    
  • Prepare, edit, and distribute reports, correspondence, and other documents.
    
    
    
  • Record Management:
    
    • 
      
    • Maintain accurate and secure records, including case files, incident reports, personnel files, and training records.
      
    • Assist in the preparation and submission of reports to state or federal agencies.
      
    • Perform data entry and ensure databases are up to date.
      
      
      
    • Communication Coordination:
      
      • 
        
      • Serve as a liaison between the public, Troopers, and other departments.
        
      • Handle inquiries from the public, providing accurate information or directing them to the appropriate resources.
        
        
        
      • Compliance and Confidentiality:
        
        • 
          
        • Ensure compliance with state police policies, regulations, and legal standards.
          
        • Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
          
          
          
        • Operational Support:
          
          • 
            
          • Manage inventory and order office supplies.
            
            
            
            
            Strong problem-solving and decision making skills, in addition to the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment are vital.Who May Apply

            PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).Environmental Factors
            Incumbents must be able to function under stress and be able to work rotating shifts when required. Incumbents may be the sole person in the office during certain hours and certain shifts.
            Minimum Qualifications
            Two years or more of full-time college coursework or an associate degree or higher.
            OR
            High School diploma or equivalent including completion of a one-year vocational/technical training program in business and office occupations or related area AND one (1) year or more of office clerical experience.
            OR
            High School diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years or more of office clerical experience.Total Compensation
