Controls Technician
(Field Service - VFDs and Controls) ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS-Perform on site and/or in shop troubleshooting, testing, calibration, programming, repair, estimate, or replacement of motors, controls, VFDs and select instruments.
-Read, understand, and modify, electrical prints and electronic schematics.
-Perform on site start-ups and operator training.
-Use test equipment such as multimeters, meterscope, simulators, and power supplies.
-Practice all codes, technical requirements, and safety procedures.
-Submit required forms, reports, and documentation.
-Build or test VFD and control panels.
-Promote a culture of excellent customer service and look for opportunities to broaden relationships or sales opportunities with new and existing customers
-Safely operate company vehicles, and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
-Maintain current body of knowledge/training (attending manufacturers' continuing development or factory training classes)
-Reports to work in PORTLAND, MAINE. May work extended hours or work on-call as scheduling demands or as needed
-Travel to customer sites to perform work duties as needed
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS-High school diploma
-Formal electrical / electronic schooling (certificate or associate's degree)
-Prior Variable Frequency Devices Technician and Electronic Controls Technician experience, including the maintenance, repair, construction, and/or design of VFDs and Controls. This includes the ability to perform on-site start-ups and operator training.
-Prior experience using test equipment such as: multimeters, meterscope, simulators, and power supplies.
-Valid driver's license
-Familiar with use of personal computer and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
-Strong mechanical understanding of electrical controls and VFDs
-Perform on site start-ups and operator training.
-Practice all codes, technical requirements, and safety procedures.
-Ability to interface with external customers and internal team members
-Ability to express technical ideas and concepts verbally and in writing
-Ability to work in industrial environments (indoor "shop" area as well as exposure to external environments where electronic controls may be installed or based)
-Position requires travel to customer or control sites
-Position requires occasional on-call hours/shifts to respond to equipment failure/emergencies
