We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor who's ready
to lead from the front - someone with strong mechanical know-how
and the leadership skills to guide a skilled, unionized maintenance
team in a high-performance industrial environment.
In this role, you'll ensure smooth day-to-day mechanical operations
and play a critical part in planning and executing routine outages.
You'll drive safety, reliability, and maintenance excellence - all
while helping create a safe and productive work environment that
fuels long-term success.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a crew hourly unionized maintenance
team members
- Track and verify employee hours to ensure accurate payroll
reporting
- Collaborate with operations, engineers, and contractors to
coordinate preventative maintenance, planned repairs, and emergency
response tasks
- Drive and enforce safe work practices, ensuring all
lockout/tagout and cleaning procedures are in place for maintenance
windows
- Support and manage capital and expense projects across your area
of responsibility
- Ensure all weekly scheduled work is executed safely, efficiently,
and on time
- Champion Reliability Excellence (Rx) processes and ensure all
maintenance activities meet compliance and operational
standards
- Provide detailed reporting on incidents, SOP updates,
lockout/tagout reviews, and equipment-related issues
- Maintain clear and open communication across departments - from
hourly teams to superintendents and upper management
- Offer troubleshooting expertise and assist with precision
maintenance when needed
- Identify and suggest improvements that advance safety, quality,
efficiency, and sustainability
What You Bring to the Table:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with precision maintenance
knowledge
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a union
environment
- Effective communicator - written, verbal, and interpersonal
- Hands-on experience with CMMS systems and proficiency in
Microsoft Word & Excel
- Able to juggle multiple tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced,
high-pressure setting
- Experience with Reliability Excellence (Rx) and industrial safety
practices
- Detail-oriented and highly organized - with strong documentation
and planning skills
- Self-starter with the drive to own special projects from concept
to completion
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical
Technology preferred (OR equivalent experience - -8 years in
industrial maintenance, ideally within the pulp & paper
industry)
