Professional and make a difference! Shifts needed Saturday and
Sunday: 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 12am Summary The
Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered,
hands-on support to individuals receiving Home and Community-Based
Services (HCBS) under Maine waivers. DSPs assist individuals with
activities of daily living, community integration, health and
safety supports, and goal attainment as outlined in Individual
Support Plans (ISPs). Services are delivered in compliance with
Maine DHHS OADS regulations, HCBS Settings Rule requirements, and
agency policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Person-Centered Direct Support Provide support that promotes
choice, independence, dignity, privacy, and self-determination
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal
care, hygiene, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, and household
tasks Support individuals in learning and maintaining independent
living skills Respect individual rights, cultural preferences, and
personal routines Individual Support Plan (ISP) Implementation
Follow and implement ISPs, behavior support plans, and risk plans
as written Support individuals in achieving personal, vocational,
recreational, and community goals Document services accurately and
in a timely manner in accordance with Maine HCBS standards
Community Integration (HCBS Compliance) Support meaningful access
to the community, including employment, education, healthcare,
social, and recreational activities Assist with transportation to
appointments and community activities, as authorized Encourage
community relationships and natural supports, consistent with HCBS
Settings Rule requirements Health, Safety & Medication Support
Monitor for changes in health, behavior, or safety and report
concerns promptly Administer medications only as trained and
authorized under Maine regulations Follow all emergency, incident
reporting, infection control, and safety procedures Maintain a
safe, respectful, and non-restrictive environment Remain awake and
alert throughout shift Documentation & Compliance Complete required
daily notes, incident reports, medication records, and service
documentation accurately Maintain confidentiality in accordance
with HIPAA and Maine DHHS requirements Participate in required
trainings, supervision, and quality assurance activities
Professional Conduct & Teamwork Communicate effectively with
supervisors, coworkers, families, guardians, and service providers
Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards at all times
Represent the organization positively in the community
Requirements: Required Qualifications (Maine HCBS) High school
diploma or equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to
pass Maine DHHS-required background checks Valid driver’s license
and acceptable driving record (if transporting individuals) Ability
to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as
required Ability to complete required Maine HCBS trainings within
designated timeframes Preferred Qualifications Experience working
with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental
disabilities Knowledge of person-centered planning and HCBS
Settings Rule CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to
obtain) Medication Administration certification (or willingness to
obtain) Familiarity with Maine waiver services and documentation
standards
